Right Now...

Right now I'm...

munching on juicy strawberries.
feeling itty bitty flutters and kicks. I felt Linus for the first time at 17 weeks, too.
smelling beeswax.
seeing golden leaves whirl around my back yard.
listening to Linus hum while he plays with his Lego guys.
noticing granola bar crumbs on my bed...
wondering what this new little baby is going to be. Boy? Girl?
looking forward to my next ultrasound appointment where we hope to find out!
organizing my craft/sewing supplies so we can move it all to a new home in the downstairs guest room.
planning the nursery! 'Pot of Cream' walls... honey bees... vintage touches... plenty of afternoon light. I can't wait!
thinking for now, I might need a bigger drawer for all the cute new baby stuff I have tucked away.
making another batch of pickle soup. A pregnancy staple.
buying modeling beeswax for Linus and more beeswax candles for myself.
wanting to start knitting again. It's that time of year.
hoping the tulips and daffodils I planted in the front yard bloom in glorious bunches this Spring.
loving my boys cute new hair cut. He looks like a little man.
wishing you all a very cozy Autumn evening.

September Music Mix

I think it's about time I shared another little mix on the blog. As I mentioned before, Autumn is my very favorite season for many reasons. It's a comforting time spent curled up under cozy knit blankets, sipping pumpkin spice lattes (decaf for me), and this year focussing many warm thoughts inward to this growing bub of ours. I'm trying my best to let the calm of the season wash over me. Taking long deep breaths, and listening to good music. New and old.
Here's a few songs I've been listening to over the past little while. So many great new albums have just been released. I'll try to make another mix very soon.

Enjoy, my friends.

Patrick Watson - Big Bird In a Small Cage
Chris and Thomas - Broken Chair
Mason Jennings - Ballad of Paul and Sheila
Bon Iver - Stacks
Daughter - Medicine
Julia Stone - With the Light
Heather Woods Broderick - From the Ground
Mountain Man - Animal Tracks
Emily and The Woods - Eye To Eye
Julia Stone - Bloodbuzz Ohio
Angus Stone - Wooden Chair
Bowerbirds - Tuck the Darkness in
Bronson - Offering
Sean Nicholas Savage - Dreamers Die Hard
Daughter - Home
The xx - Reunion
Sarah Jaffe - Limerence
Emily Wells - Piece of it
Karen O and the Kids - Hideaway

p.s. My friend Cori made another one of her awesome music mixes for the 124 street Grand Market website if any of you care to listen. It's starts off with my all time favorite Autumn song.
We'll be selling at the market again tonight! It will be our second last time.

Sadie is 2!

Sweet Sadie Love turned two on Sunday. These last couple of years have truly flown by. She's grown so much in such a short period of time. It's pretty magical. She woke up on her Birthday and refused to get out of her crib because she was busy looking at books. Jedi apparently climbed in with her for a while and eventually got her to come out. My mom has a number of photos of her asleep on top of stacks of books. I love it. This little girl has made our lives so much brighter. Her smile, her songs, her wacky hair  and her bouncy walk from room to room are things I truly couldn't live without. She's old enough now that she's able to play well with Linus and Jedi. It's completely adorable. I love watching them all together. I'm so lucky to feel the overwhelming love for a sister after so many years. My love for her was immediate and it grows as she does. This beautiful little sister of mine. I love her. I love her. I love her.

Over the moon

I've been a busy bee around here. I haven't been making many new items for the market or the Etsy shop... I've been busy painting with Linus, eating juicy plums, and using all of my creative energy on creating a baby!!!!

We're expecting our second little bean to arrive in March and we could not be happier. Linus seems to like the idea quite a bit, too. I can't believe he's going to be a big brother! I'm 15 weeks today and feeling wonderful. The first trimester was a little rough. Not terrible, but the utter exhaustion took a toll and after suffering through two miscarriages last winter I wasn't exactly calm as a cucumber. I'm just so happy to have made it past all of that. We've been celebrating around these parts with plenty of cake and happy dances. I've got my energy back and a little bump to share:)

Pretty Pouches

I stumbled upon a basket of free zippers during one of my treasure hunts and decided to whip up a few of these pretty little pouches. I paired a variety of vintage fabrics together to create 2 different sizes of handy dandy one of a kind purses to fill with coins, make-up, sweets... Whatever! I'll be selling these tonight at the 124st Grand Market. We're only going to be selling for 3 more nights- Tonight, September 20th and at the very last market of the season on October 4th from 5-8 pm. We'll also have plenty of lavender clouds, vintage fabric banners, acorn locket necklaces, tote bags, envelopes and of course Cori's famous bows for boys and girls (and sometimes dogs). Sadie is modeling a pair of hair bows in the last photo. She's cute!

First Day

We had a beautiful Summer. Lazier than most, though we did spend a lot of time at the playground. We went to Vancouver and Chicago. Vancouver was gorgeous as usual. Linus had so much fun playing with his Uncles Zane and Elias. Those boys are just the sweetest. We'd never been to Chicago before and we're so glad we decided to go. What an awesome city it is! Amazing food, the friendliest people, interesting architecture and museums and super kid friendly! Linus had a blast. Highlights of the trip include the architectural boat tour, Portillo's hot dogs and watching the fireworks from the very top of the Navy Pier ferris wheel (we totally lucked out!).

As lovely as our Summer was, Autumn has always been my season. After long, hot, sticky Summer days I crave a fresh Fall breeze, spiced tea and a new knitting project. I can feel it in the air now. I can see the golden undertone. The light seems lower. The nights are much colder. Perfect sleeping temperature. In the morning, before Linus wakes up, I sit under a blanket by the window and sip my tea. It's a perfect quiet moment only to be sweetened a few minutes later as my rosy cheeked boy climbs onto my lap for morning time cuddles.

Yesterday was Linus' first day of preschool. He's been looking forward to going back and he loved it. He's learned to spell and write his name so he can sign his work. I'm very proud of him. He made sure to get his little back back ready with his new school shoes, an extra set of clothes and his rock collection. The essentials.
