This Moment

We've had a very busy week. No time to blog... Today is possession day and we should be getting the keys to our new home in just a few hours! I might pee, I'm so very excited. Especially for Linus to see it. He's going to flip out when he finds the slide/swing set in the back yard. I've been packing up a few things to take with me today- mostly toys... maybe a chair. It will be a gradual move. My mom also just moved into a new home this week. Ye gods, it's a beautiful house! Its' been a little chaotic around here as I've been looking after all three littles while they move in and set things up. These bubs are like tiny tornados that cause destruction in various corners of my house. They also poop... Thank goodness they're cute and say weird things. The coming weeks are likely to be filled with just as much chaos while we move in to our new place, paint, decorate and travel to the Mediterranean! I'll be posting all about these exciting happenings as we go along. Oh, and good news- the house we're in at the moment is now pending! Yippee! Hopefully the sale goes through and we won't have to worry about owning two houses! I'll cry if it doesn't.
It will be pretty quite in this space for the next few days and I might have to postpone the re-opening of my Etsy shop... I'm thinking maybe September. With this move and our trip, I just don't know what I was thinking! But don't fret my sweet baboos, I'll keep you all posted as to when the shop will re-open and what sorts of pretty little bits and baubles you can expect to find when it does! I'm really excited about it. And for those of you who have been patiently waiting for a July mix-tape, I'm sorry to disappoint. I promise my August mix-tape will be a gooder!

Have a very lovely long weekend!

Simple Pleasures

Just a few things around here that are bringing me joy.

• Home made smoothies made with Greek yogurt, coconut water, and frozen berries. So nummy!
• Practicing my throwing at pottery class.
• The ripening berries all over our neighborhood.
• Eating lunch in the park with my guys.
• The overwhelming number of paint color choices. What color should I choose for the master          bedroom? kitchen? bathrooms? craft room!?
• My Emersonmade dress and my pretty blue ring from Club Monaco. Maybe I'll paint the craft room the same colour as this stone...
• Jedi trying on Sadie's new hair band.
• Sadie baby following me around the house. Yesterday she put Jedi's undies on her head and started to laugh and squeal. She's a little jokester.
• Daydreaming about all the exciting things we have to look forward to... Our new house, folk fest, a Mediterranean cruise with my family, starting my photography classes this fall, seeing Bon Iver and Other Lives in Portland, and meeting the newest addition to our family- sweet little Jilly bean who is being adopted by my aunt and uncle from China! Yes, she already has a nickname and we haven't even met her yet. They/we have been waiting 5 years for this.
• Watching this "bicycle Rush Hour" clip from the Netherlands. Evan showed me this video a few weeks ago. It's incredible!

Wishing you all a very happy Monday!

One year ago today...

I was a quivering, sweaty, blushing, nervous mess!
It's our very first wedding anniversary today and although I was shaky on our beautiful wedding day, the marriage has filled me with unwavering peace and contentment. Just as I knew it would.
I'm so lucky to have found my love so early in life. He makes my world go round. He sets my heart a flutter. I love him and it's time to celebrate!
Paper is the traditional first year anniversary gift, so... my sweet, lovable, ah-mazing husband bought us tickets to see Bon Iver and Other Lives in concert!... This September!... in Portland!!! I'm still trying to catch my breath from the happy dance I performed when he told me. Isn't he the most wonderful man! My gift to him isn't quite as extravagant, though still exciting and fits with the paper theme... I managed to find tickets to the Edmonton folk music festival! Woohoo! So now all of us, including Linus, are doing happy dances. Mostly consisting of twirls, super high leg kicks and Linus using daddy's body as a ladder. Evan's not so good with the super high leg kicks... However, he does know how to do the wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man dance quite well!
Today Linus will be spending the day with family while Evan and I bike to the park for a little picnic. Evan has something planned for later this evening. He hasn't told me what. I love being able to just go with the flow.
“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”
-Dr. Seuss

I look forward to many more weird and wonderful days with you, Boo.

Fresh as a daisy!

Papas is out for dinner tonight with friends from his University days. Linus and I are partying it up at home. Well, actually Linus is sleeping next to me now and I'm sippin' a smoothie... He fell asleep before 9! I don't think he's ever done that, ever! Perhaps it was the after dinner chamomile bubble bath that tuckered him out, or the kitchen dance party, mostly consisting of spins, super high leg kicks and Linus using my body as a ladder. These dance parties often happen after mama watches So You Think You Can Dance, or when Sarah comes over. I might have to make both of these events into nightly rituals from now on. I'll think about it and see how I feel when Linus wakes me up at 7:00 am tomorrow morning...
I snapped a few photos of Linus in the tub. He's clean as a bean!

Today I will...

Make a quiche.
• Help Linus perfect his Oprah impersonation.
• Decide on paint colours for the new house.
• Play in the backyard.
• Read stories to my boy while he sits on the potty.
• Watch The Royal Tenenbaums while I fold laundry.
• Fold some more laundry.
• Kiss Jedi and Sadie and Linus, too.
• Go to my pottery class.
• Finally see the last HP movie!
• Cuddle with my guys before bed.

Our little garden

Meet my little vegetable garden. I have never had a garden before this one and I'm so pleased with my very first attempt. We had a few failures, but for the most part it's growing quite nicely. I had a really great raised garden bed made for me when we moved into this house and I've since filled it with tomatoes, snow peas, strawberries, rhubarb, nasturtiums, carrots, beets, broccoli, various herbs and a few flowers. Linus has been helping me pick the peas and strawberries. A delicious snack in between chalk drawings and running through the sprinkler! We will be saying goodbye to this little garden very soon. Moving on to bigger and better at our new place! I'll miss this one though. I just hope we sell to someone with a green thumb.

Sweet sweet Summer

We had a wonderful, sunshine filled weekend. Evan and I went out on a little date. We saw the movie Beginners and we both really enjoyed it. We went to the Sugarbowl for cinnamon buns, french toast and huevos rancheros on Saturday. Wandered through the Art Walk on Whyte ave, then made our way over to a little birthday party for one of Linus' sweet friends(Happy 2nd Birthday Conor!). On Saturday evening we had a delicious dinner with Evan's dad. Linus was so happy to have a little after dinner play time with his Grandpa. Later we spent some time swapping "ghost" stories, sippin' blueberry beers and snacking on olives with friends. We got together with a few of them again on Sunday for brunch and then spent the afternoon at the park. We ended our weekend with my family at my grandparents house for Sunday dinner. My grandma made a scrumptious dessert using the rhubarb from her garden. I might have to make the same thing using my rhubarb plant before we move away and have to leave the garden behind...
It was such an enjoyable weekend and so nice to finally see the sun again!
I'm heading out with Linus for a little morning run (and by "run" I most likely mean walk... we'll see how it goes!). Trying to savour every day of Summer. Before we know it, it'll be fall!

Ribboned Asparagus Salad

I came across another really beautiful Tiger In A Jar recipe video the other day. Remember the beet cake one? Well this one is for ribboned asparagus salad. Yum!

Eaten alive...

We went for a little family bike ride this evening after dinner. It was a much needed break. I've been a little stressed lately, so being able to get out with my guys and do something active was nice. The river valley is such a beautiful place to ride. Unfortunately, with all these freakin' mosquitoes we could only stand to be down there for a short time. We're feeling weak now from all the blood loss.
